Stop Causes

Definition

When editing a machine, you could notice that there are a few tabs at the top of the configuration popup. Let's take a look at one of these tabs: Stop Causes.

Stop causes of a machine are all the potential explanations as to why the machine is not working during the time it is supposed to work, whether it's a lack of material, a lunch break, a breakdown or something else more specific.

See here on how to configure your stop causes.

Stop cause types

A stop cause must have a type, according to the nature of the stop.
In the application, we have 5 diffent types of stops:

  • Planned
  • Failure
  • Idle
  • Changeover
  • Minor

You can find theses classification in the Scorecard tile as an option to choose which downtime type you want to see.

Plannned

A planned stop is a downtime that you expect to happen and usually scheduled, a lunch break for instance.

Failure

Failure is the default unknown stop type. It could be a broken tool or a triggered alarm.

Idle

This is the downtime due to the machine idling. The machine is ready to go, but it cannot produce because of external reasons, such as a lack of material.

Changeover

This type is used for setups and everything related to preparing the machine.

Minor

This type is designed for stop causes of short length, that can happened but that do not affect the production too much.
